The fresh (which are collected during the summer season) or dried leaves of the lemon verbena plant are used; even in this second case, however, they manage to retain the main characteristics.

The fresh or dried leaves are characterized by being used mainly for the preparation of herbal infusions or liqueurs, but also to flavor oil and vinegar or, in some cases, even ice cream.

The leaves of the lemon verbena are also often used for the flavoring of herbal teas, as well as to perfume the breath, but also for the creation of deodorants for aromatic baths.

In addition, lemon verbena leaves can often be found in preparations as aromatic mixtures that are used for roasts and marinades, but also in the manufacture of herbal liqueurs.

We must not forget how, in some cases, the flowering tops can also be used as a discreet alternative to the leaves.

Essentially, the flowering tops can be used for the preparation of aromatic comfort drinks, as a digestive and, in some cases, even as an antispasmodic.

As for the infusion, it is necessary to place one or two grams of lemon verbena leaves in at least 100 ml of water and it must be taken after the main meals.

As for the cosmetic use, perfumed baths can be prepared or there is also the possibility of using the leaves, in the same way as sage, for cleaning the teeth (rubbing them with a fresh leaf) and gums.
